D – CONTINOUS RETRIEVALS

  1. D2 chips a puck into the corner, and D1 retrieves it.
  2. D1 then passes it to P2, acting as a winger.
  3. D2 pivots backward, walks the blue line, and takes a shot.
  4. D2 pivots backward to retrieve a puck in the opposite corner.
  5. D5 chips a puck into the corner for D2 to retrieve, and then he becomes the winger continuously.

High level of endurance and stamina.

Part # 1 Face Up Ice: Retrieve the puck and get it up ice as quickly as possible.

Part # 2: Puck Protection & Shot: Retrieve the puck and perform protection cutbacks along the boards before passing it up.

Part # 3 Puck Protection & Shot With Tip:  After a player passes the puck to the point, they go to the front of the net for a tip.

VERY IMPORTANT TEACHING POINTS:

  1. SHOULDER CHECK – scan – take pictures – take movies – at least three pictures or videos.
  2. USE DECEPTION: Sprint back, skate or body fake, toe caps one way, turn toe camps the other way, and pick up the puck at an angle.
  3.  FIRM, ACCURATE FIRST PASS – “LOOK PUSH POINT”
  4. It’s a quick-release, low-accurate point shot.
